Internal Family Systems
Have you ever had the experience of being unable to get yourself to do something or to stop doing something that is detrimental to yourself? Such as one part of you wants to exercise, but another part would rather stay in bed. And then another part starts to shame yourself for not getting up and exercising! This can lead to many conflicting feelings, causing anxiety or depression.
I practice Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed psychotherapy, which is a compassionate, evidence-based approach that helps clients understand and heal the different parts of themselves. Founded on the belief that every person has a core Self that is wise, calm, and capable of leading their internal system, IFS works to identify and support the various inner parts that carry emotions, beliefs, and memories.
Through IFS, clients learn to access their Self energy and build a relationship with protective and wounded parts — often resulting in greater self-compassion, emotional balance, and inner harmony. This non-pathologizing model empowers individuals to heal from trauma, navigate life challenges, and foster deep personal growth.
IFS is effective for a wide range of issues, including anxiety, trauma, depression, and relationship struggles, offering a gentle yet powerful pathway toward lasting transformation.
